Use DMPTool when applying to U.S. funding agencies
DMPTool is a free, open-source, online application that helps researchers create data management plans that meet the requirements of major U.S. funding agencies. It provides guidance from specific funders who require DMPs, but the tool can be used by anyone interested in developing generic DMPs to help facilitate their research.
Create a DMPTool account, choose a funding agency and add information about your project to the template. The research data management plan you produce with DMPTool will be ready to add to an application for funding to the agency you selected.
A quick start guide, information on funder requirements and DMP templates are all available to help you create your plan.
DMPTool provides customized research data management plan templates for most major U.S. funding agencies including:
- Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- US Department of Energy (DOE)
- US Geological Survey (USGS)
- US National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
- US National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- US National Science Foundation (NSF), including many individual directorates
DMPTool is hosted by the University of California Curation Center.
